Meet the Team: Christian Gully

Say hello to Christian, UCM’s Narrative Associate! Christian came to UCM through a friend’s recommendation and quickly fell in love with the organization’s mission and commitment to the community. A lifelong storyteller and novelist, she’s passionate about using her creativity to amplify voices that might otherwise go unheard. With two master’s degrees, including an MFA in Creative Writing, Christian combines skill, faith, and heart in everything she does.

What inspired you to join UCM?

I was referred by a close friend but didn't know much about the organization. As I learned, I fell in love with the mission and the dedication to the community.

What previous experience prepared you for this role?

My entire life :D. I've always been a communicator with a more creative focus (as a novelist) but I've always wanted my writing to mean something. My role with UCM allows me to use my creativity for the greater good.

Are there any personal experiences that have shaped your dedication to this cause?

I love being able to tell stories that the majority may feel are insignificant. I've always had a motto of "your story matters".

Are there any certifications, degrees, or specialized training you’d like to highlight?:

I have two masters degrees but I'm most proud of my MFA in Creative Writing

Do you have any personal passions or causes you support that align with your work here?:

My personal faith and relationship with Jesus Christ makes this work significantly important.

Can you share a fun fact or surprising detail about yourself?:

A fun fact about me is I love DIY projects. Any kind. If I look at it long enough, I can figure out how to do it.
