STRUCTURE AND GOVERNANCE OF UCM

Currently 26 member congregations, with 52 voting members are eligible to participate in the monthly Public Board meetings.

Congregations are assessed annual dues, ranging from $400 to $2000, based on worship service attendance.

UCM strives to develop leaders among our members and we base our work on the belief that all citizens can learn to be active and effective leaders, with the support and encouragement of our organizers.

UCM is governed by a Board of Directors, with general powers to manage the budget and contractual obligations of the organization, establish membership guidelines and fees and supervise personnel. Each UCM member congregation has two voting members on the full Board - the pastoral leader of the congregation and one representative member.

The Executive Board, composed of 8 members - five officers and three at large members, meets on the second Tuesday of every month and submits its recommendations for approval by the full Board of Directors. It is the policy of UCM that the Executive Board will include representatives from impoverished local communities.

A Clergy and Religious Caucus, comprised of leaders of all UCM congregations, meets monthly to address issues common to all members. The President of the UCM Board is empowered to appoint members to serve on Standing Committees.
