UCM Public Action Meeting, October 16, 2011
The 34 member churches of the United Congregations of Metro-east will gather with friends, allies, and community members on October 16th to declare their communities as Holy Grounds. The Public Action Meeting will provide a platform for parents in East St. Louis, who for far too long have been excluded from the decisions made in the Education system. The Public meeting will also address an issue that has been on everyone’s minds- jobs. UCM will celebrate their progress in working to ensure that the workforce for construction projects across the state, are reflective of their communities. UCM’s goal is for minorities and women to have the equal opportunity of benefiting from state projects taking place in their communities. Public officials will be invited, some declaring their public support on these issues. Don’t miss out on your chance to be a part of a collective and powerful voice in the Metro-east. The Meeting will be held at Shining Light Missionary Baptist Church at 1216 Colas Avenue in East St. Louis from 4:00-5:30pm. Registration at the door will begin at 3:30. Parking will be available at the church. >> FLIER |
